Sharing lived experience to make a difference

Lived Experience leads are advocates for service users, ensuring that the voice of lived experience makes the changes needed to services.

Each member of the team is keen to connect with individuals with lived experience, those who support individuals with lived experience, and organisations with shared interests within their areas.

Meet Vanessa, Lived Experience Lead:

"During my time as Lived Experience Lead for Derwentside and Clay path area, I have had the opportunity to engage with many individuals and listen to their lived experiences whilst accessing services. The information that has been gathered from personal lived experiences is powerful and important in shaping the system change. Many individuals have been grateful for the opportunity to share their stories and to express their true feelings and opinions of what has worked and what hasn’t. the good, the bad and the ugly!

"Many individuals have recognised the importance of sharing their stories to make a difference. They want to make access to services and being supported whilst doing so a much easier task for our future generations. I believe coming together and working as a team will make a huge difference within the transformation and look forward to the future development of the project."
