Each month we bring you behind the scenes to put the well deserved spotlight on our staff that help us make a difference to communities throughout the North East. This month meet Ollie Coulter, Hydrotherapy Pool Attendant.
Hello, my name is Ollie, I am the Hydrotherapy Pool Attendant at the PCP. I am responsible for looking after customers in the pool and ensure everyone is safe. My role involves observing the pool, maintaining health and safety and high cleanliness standards, providing a welcoming and positive experience for customers using the hydrotherapy pool and operating the chair and turntable hoists.
I joined PCP in late September and have enjoyed the friendly and positive environment since starting. Since I started as a Pool Attendant I have been guided and mentored by Nenah Thorman, Pool Supervisor which has helped boost my skills and knowledge of the job. My favourite moments since starting are working with Options in the pool and creating games for the group to play in the pool. During my time at the PCP, I aim to complete my shallow water rescue course and possibly pursue my NPLQ qualification in the future.
I would also like to complete my Makaton Level 1 to help me communicate with members of T21 and members of the public who use Makaton. Makaton is a unique aid that uses signs, symbols, and speech to help people communicate. It’s designed to support individuals with communication difficulties.
Outside of the PCP I am studying for my Sports Coaching Degree at Bishop Auckland college. I played basketball with my secondary school basketball team for three years and I am looking to coach basketball in the local area. I play guitar and drums - I have been playing guitar for 10 years and I have played drums for three years and I am part of a band called The Ransoms.
