Each month we bring you behind the scenes to put the well deserved spotlight on our staff that help us make a difference to communities throughout the North East. This month meet Gayle Goldsmith, Project Development Manager.

"Hello, I'm Gayle and my role is Project Development Manager. I am fulltime and have worked for Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) since June 2023. I work most days from the Pioneering Care Centre (PCC), but also from home or across Durham and Sunderland.
"I am a member of the Senior Leadership Team and work with internal departments, several project teams and external stakeholders.
"The projects and services I support includes: Healthwatch County Durham, Healthwatch Sunderland, and those based at the PCC such as Options, Together 21, Facilities, Admin, Community Development, Garden Kitchen, and hydrotherapy pool.
"My work is so varied and vast. Each day can be very different from the next depending on the team I have planned to work with. One day, I could be discussing activities and providing advice relating to the hydrotherapy pool, meeting with tenants or involved in meetings to discuss quality, safety and compliance. On another day I could be catching up on the exceptional engagement work delivered by Healthwatch teams and back to PCC exploring funding opportunities, planning and actioning ways in which we can further develop all projects and services.
"The thing I like most about PCP is the passion and dedication each service has in making a difference to others. In all the interactions I have had with colleagues and volunteers there is a shared sense of team, commitment and value of all contributions that enable PCP to achieve its mission.
"PCP recognises that volunteers bring a wealth of knowledge and skills and that they are vital in supporting services. Volunteers express an immense sense of pride, enjoyment, and satisfaction from their differing roles and many friendships have grown beyond the work they do within PCP. I volunteer as a Mental Health ambassador for a Game of II Halves, a project run by the Beacon of Light, so can appreciate the difference this makes to my life, and others.
"The most rewarding part of my role is being part of a team that shares a genuine passion for improving the lives of other people. I have dedicated my whole life to this and believe that every interaction you share with another person has an impact, and even when times are hard, I always try to ensure the impact I make is a positive one. Like the late great Spike Milligan, I know that Smiling is Infectious, so let's all pass it on!
"I have completed all elements of my mandatory training and been coached in all things PCP and SageHR. With a background in training and supporting teams, I believe that there is always value in learning, so would welcome any training that affords me the opportunity to grow. When the time is right, I would consider completing a Level 7 qualification.
