Feeding families this summer – PCP to provide free ‘family, fun & food’ support

Available to children between the ages of 3 and 10 with a parent, guardian or care provider, the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is lending a helping hand this summer with its Family, Fun & Food sessions.

Taking place at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe, PCP aims to support local families in need during the summer holidays with a free activity and hot meal for the whole family.

These sessions will take place on the 9th, 10th, 30th and 31st of August, running from 2pm to 5pm, with a variety of activities on offer such as games, face painting, pizza making and more.

Sandra Roberts, Governance and Development Manager at PCP, said: “During the ongoing cost of living crisis, it has been highlighted that around 1 in 20 adults have run out of food and have been unable to afford to buy anymore. The Pioneering Care Centre is a base for the community, which is why PCP is looking to support as many local families as possible with our free sessions.

“PCP previously provided a warm hub in the winter months, with sessions proving to be popular. PCP is hosting the Family, Fun and Food sessions to provide families with an opportunity to spend time together this summer, without the worry of not being able to afford food or fun activities for their children and themselves.”

The Family, Fun and Food sessions are completely free, thanks to funding from the County Durham Community Foundation.

Booking is essential. To book your place on a session, please email enquiries@pcp.uk.net or call the Pioneering Care Centre on 01325 321234.
